Holidays in Chile
Chile, home of great wine and the driest desert, Atacama, one would wonder, what is it like in Chile? When you are greeted in Chile, you’re given a big hug or a kiss on the cheek. Chileans use their lips to show their intent and points with them instead of their index fingers. When your hands are full consistently, using your lips seems to be acceptable and convenient. Chileans have a different meal set up than we have. For breakfast, having some bread served with assorted toppings and coffee or tea at the local bakery. Lunch would consist of a stew or a version of Shepard's pie. Once (Pronounce own-say) is served between 4p-7p is like breakfast, instead some have liquor added to their coffee and was once used to announce one was having liquor in 5 in the afternoon. Dinners are the largest meals Chileans have; often items from lunch are had, with more foods, and your family sitting together.
Chileans and Argentinians are Catholic peoples, having the religion in there holidays and celebrations. From Saint Peter and Saint Day, celebration of the two Saints to Fiesta de la Virgin Del Carmen a festival celebrated by Catholics. The holidays not common for us are Navy Day, which celebrates the Battle of Iquique and other naval victories and Reformation Day, the day of the Evangelical and Protestant Churches. While in Argentina, one will enjoy many varieties of holidays to share as well, such as a version of Veterans Day, for the soldiers of the Malvinas War, Remembrance and Truth Day to celebrate a coup de tat of the government which ushered in the National Recognition Process dictatorships.
Aside from the festive holidays in Chile, one can enjoy the driest desert on Earth, the Atacama Desert and the next day head on a cruise to the southern glacier field on cruise ships like the Skorpios II and Skorpios III. Travel to the Easter Islands and marvel at the huge head statues that are permanent residents of intrigue. Want a taste of adventure while on your tourist trip, head to the most popular attraction of Villarrica National Park, where you can tour on the Andes Mountains to three volcanoes. The scenery of the flowers and other plants is beauty to behold. In the capital city of Santiago there are many attractions of the local architecture as well as the local museums to see beautiful pieces of art. One can explore the beauty of Buenos Aires, the Iguazo Falls, and trips to Antarctica! Penguin sightings are a thing to see when they are in there natural environment.
