Costa Teguise Tourism at its Best in Lanzarote
One of the loveliest choices of vacation destination at Lanzarote has to be Costa Teguise. This holiday resort is located on Lanzarote’s southern coast of Lanzarote with only 4 miles separating it from Arrecife, Lanzarote’s capital.
Set Up
Costa Teguise was meant to be a purpose built vacation resort on vast lands on the island over the past 30 years. Its original plans of a luxury vacation resort had the likes of royalties and celebrities visiting it but today, Costa Teguise attracts more families who want a pleasant seaside vacation.
Offerings
There are at least 4 beautiful beaches at Costa Teguise. These are covered by soft fine sand that makes them easy to walk barefooted anytime. Strong and steady sea breezes blow across Lanzarote Island to make Costa Teguise a favored windsurfing destination.
The largest of Costa Teguise beaches is the Playa las Cucharas which measures at 600 yards long. The renowned Professional Windsurfers Association Competition is always hosted at Costa Teguise in the month of July every year. The strong winds usually abate around winter to make the beaches at Costa Teguise more attractive to families.
The Playa Los Charcos may be smaller than Playa las Cucharas at 150 yards long but the former boasts of white sand with crystal clear waters. The other two Costa Teguise beaches, Playa Jabillo and Playa Bastian, are much smaller and sheltered. However, due to the popularity of Costa Teguise, these smaller beaches can be quite crowded especially with the presence of a big hotel complex in the vicinity.
Island attractions
Besides the beaches, there is a water park which has kids’ slides and water chutes as well as tubes that are easy on smaller children. Avid golfers would enjoy the nearby Golf Course in Costa Teguise which has an 18-hole offering. This is Lanzarote’s first golf course with palms and cacti in the close proximity of an ancient defunct volcano.
There is a vibrant nightlife at Costa Teguise during the peak seasons with the abundance of restaurants, bars, pubs and cafés. These serve great local cuisine as well as English fare for the many English tourists who visit Costa Teguise.
There is also a historic section of Lanzarote with impressive colonial architecture that houses art galleries, bars, craft shops and restaurants. The big Lanzarote market is open every Sunday with colorful street entertainments spicing up the place among the sellers and crowd. The local town museum houses pieces in dedication to Lanzarote’s emigrated ancestors.
