In the multi-level system, the home security devices give you the option for monitoring smoke and fire, carbon dioxide and other emergency monitoring, rather than burglary monitoring.
Inform neighbors- It is always advisable to inform neighbors when you are away from your house. In your absence they will be more alert. By providing your phone number, they will let you know if anything odd happen near your house or in the courtyard of your house. You can even ask helps like watering your plants or taking your dog out for a walk. When they come to your house for cutting bushes or feeding your dog, they will know if any one entered your house or not. So, whenever you plan for a vacation it is good to inform your close neighbors about the trip.
Don’t give publicity about your trip – It’s the nature to people to announce about their vacation trip to others. News can spread from one person to other in so many ways. When the news about your vacation trip spread to a large area, people who are keen about these types of news will closely watch your activities.
Cancel your deliveries – It’s not good to see newspapers lying on the portico when you are away for a long vacation. So it’s better to cancel newspapers of those days. You can also ask the post service people to handover your letters to your neighbor or keep it with them till you return from the trip.
Make it look like you are at home- You should try to create an atmosphere where others feel like someone is living in the house. You can do this by setting timers on lights, TV and stereos. You can even ask your neighbor to mow your lawn and clean the portico. Always to try keep the telephone ringer tone in a low or off mode. It is not advisable to leave your key hidden outside your house. Either you take it with yourself or handover it to your trusted friends or neighbors.
