Kerala Houses a Large Number of Hindu Shrines
Kerala is a State where large number of shrines exist for those with Hindu faith, whilst Kerala travel will enthuse every traveler with such a blessing of nature, with mountains, rivers, plantations, forestry and above all beaches of admirable nature, giving it a nick name ‘God’s own country’
Thiruvananthapuram, which was once a Princely State called Travancore and a place sporting arts and culture by the Maharajahs and Princes of that State, which is now the Capital of Kerala State. It is here two famous Hindu shrines are existing, viz Sree Padmanabhaswami Temple, a shrine of Lord Vishnu in the lying position and at a nearby place Varkala, still ancient Janardhana Swamy Temple, which is also a shrine for Lord Vishnu in different form , both being important places to visit during Kerala travel.
Sabarimala, with main shrine for Lord Ayyappa, which is 191 km from Thiruvananthapuram and 210 km from Kochi, is one of the famous pilgrim centres, to which place devotees go in large numbers, undergoing strict regimen of attire, food and other living habits, and it is a destination where people go out of devotion than for Kerala tourism interests.
Alappuzha which is famous because of its backwaters of Kuttinad and the houseboats floating in them, and people travel from one village to the other in these boats, even vendors sail boats house to house, because of this Alappuzha called Venice of the East, is an important place for Kerala tourism and famous Ambalappuzha Krishnan temple, Chakkulathkavu Bhagavati temple, Alappuzha Bhagavati Temple, Mannarasala Snake Temple, Mullackal Rajarajeswari Temple are situated here.
Guruvayur is the place where famous Sree Krishna Temple is situated, where people go and worship for curing chronic illnesses, for it is believed that the deity there is protector of human beings from their illnesses and to reach this place tourists make Kerala travel from Kochi International Airport, while this place can be reached by Road from Trissur and there is a Railway station at Guruvayur itself with trains having their destination.
Both Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram have International Airports, from where Kerala travel can be had to every part of the State, having at least one important shrine for Hindu devotees.
