Christopher Harney: Simple Golf Tips for Beginners

Golf is one of the most popular games across the globe. It is played both recreationally and professionally by golfers. As with all games, one improves their skills through practice, persistence, and regular playing. Beginners can benefit with tips from people who have been playing golf regularly. A person can learn a few things by trial and error but then it is not possible to become a good player like this.

Christopher Harney is a professional golfer and the 1981 National Power Hitting Champion. He has been associated with associations like the PGA of America, the Massachusetts Golf Association, and the United States Golf Association. He also used to write in the “Ask The Experts” column of The Boston Guide. Christopher Harney was also Golf Director at the Andover Country Golf Club where he had started a corporate golf program in 1988. He also hosted and developed a series of 13 corporate golf television shows. Here a few tips by Christopher Harney:

To start with position your body in a way that it is parallel with the target line.

To maintain balance, your feet should be shoulder width apart. If you are very tall, widening the stance a bit is better.

It is also important to keep the ball in line with the club that is being used. Put the ball in the center of your stance if using short irons, for drivers, woods, and long irons, place the ball at the front of your heel.

Since entire body is used to maneuver through the line of swing, you need to maintain your balance and this can be done by balancing your weight on the balls of your feet.

Also, bend your knees slightly and keep your spine straight.

When you swing, putting swing should be smooth.

These basic tips by Christopher Harney will help a beginner to get the feel of this game and working on them will help in improvement of the game.
