The Innumerable Rules and Regulations While Driving for Drivers

When I started taking the driving test, I never had the slightest idea about the rules and regulations that had to be followed while driving a car. Even now I still find it difficult to remember them, which does not mean that I do not follow the rules or I am an accident freak.

Well to be frank I have always considered myself as a good driver just like everybody else and the perfect example for this is my car which has not even got a single scratch on it. Following the feedback of a joke which states that when a man opens a door of his car for his wife, it means that either the car is new or the wife is; most people have asked me whether the car is new rather than when I got married. I never felt surprised but made these inquirers surprised when I tell them that it is my old car, which sometimes puts me in a tough spot as they would ask the reason on how my car is in excellent condition.

Not to get bound up or stuck with this question, my reply always used to be that I am a quite talented driver and a great put off of accidents. To be frank it is just that I am lucky enough to avoid accidents and get a ticket for over speeding. So what are the basic rules that have to be followed once you get inside your car and tied up to your seat with the seat belt? It is simple

Always when you step on the accelerator of your car, make sure you know the speed limit of the road as you need to be careful about your life and the lives of people on the road. Most of us know that the speed limit varies from state to state, but the minimum speed limit is thirty five kilometers per hour in case you are in an urban area or city. But as you proceed towards a highway or interstate highway your speed can reach up to sixty five to seventy kilometers per hour which also varies from state to state. You could go above the speed limit and have the patrol car chasing you, so that you have a near death defining chase with the cops and end up in a prison cell, which I assume most of us try averting.

Sometimes you may see signs on the highway which say thirty five or twenty. It does not mean that it is the speed limit, but the name of the interstate. Some people tend to be like the drivers whom you read about in the jokes who drove at twenty six kilometers per hour on the interstate 26. Just imagine the condition of the passenger who would be driving with this moron driver on the interstate 180. In the joke the passenger who drove with the driver was literally pale as a ghost when he drove two hundred kilometers per hour on the interstate 200.

Knowing what the three lights signify which you see in a traffic signal is very much important. Most people assume that they can turn right when the signal is red. This is only in some states unless there is a sign which allows for it. In case you see the red light of a traffic signal flashing, you need to leave the accelerator and step on the breaks. A flashing yellow does not mean you have to stop, but it just emphasizes to slow down in case of ongoing traffic.

Assume you are approaching a four way intersection and there is another driver who is on the right side of you. What would you do? The basic courtesy is to allow the driver to go first rather than you honking and cursing him while going before him. You may feel sometimes feel glad with it, but always remember that you could suffer the same faith in the hands of drivers who are better than you.

You must always give the right of the way to the cops, ambulances, fire engines, and other emergency vehicles. This also implies to pedestrians and bike riders. Never try passing the car in front of you unless you have an emergency or there is some urgent place you need to go. In case you want to pass the car in front of you, always pass from the left side.Whenever there is a free parking space, you can park there but make sure that there is no other person raring for that place like you. Never park in the spots specially designated for handicapped or disable drivers unless you are one of them. To legally park in theses spots you not only need to be physically disabled or handicapped, but also have to apply and receive a special permit for it. Just because you get out of your car in crutches does not mean you have the legal right to park in these spots.

Like my grandfather said, most people like to peacefully die in their sleep at their home protected by advanced security systems like ADT Security Systems rather than screaming and yelling for life while being a passenger of a reckless lunatic driver.
