India is such a country where people of various classes, tastes, religions live. The rural people constitute a major portion of India. With the globalization and technical development we are now being “cultured” and “modernized” following the western society. Most unfortunately, the rural development is still lagging behind. There is a huge discrimination between the village and the urban areas in terms of education, facilities and so on.

The most concerning issue while speaking about the Rural Development is the rural education. Surveys say that most of the children leave the school at a very early age due to their poverty. They had to go for work to meet their ends meet. There are other reasons too. Due to their lack of knowledge about the necessity of the education and proper guidance they very often don’t find the importance of study. Besides till up to date, after the glorious 65 years of our independence, there has not been so many remarkable steps taken for the rural development and rural education. The tribal people have been the most deprived among all of them from very past. Though the conditions in the urban areas have improved greatly, but in rural areas they are still amidst darkness.

There are many non government organizations (NGOs) in India who are volunteering the rural development across the nation. They are campaigning the charity education India. The NGOs are a group of people pledged to devote themselves for the sake of the nation in different aspects like education, health program, medical assistance etc. Friends of Tribal Society (FTS) are one of the NGOs empowering the Rural Education.

FTS started its journey in the year of 1985 in the Phulbani district of Orissa with the “Phulbani Jilla Unnayan Prakalp”. In that project, 44 citizens of Kolkata participated to volunteer. They were named as “vanayatries”.

FTS is working all over the India with presently 27 chapters working for the rural and tribal development. The NGOs like FTS believe that education is the primary weapon to rip off the dark veil of sufferings and problems in India. Their mission is to raise the charity education India so that every sincere citizen should take part in it to help the country circumnavigate the dark ocean of misery and deprivation.

Their initiatives in eradicating the illiteracy are to set up rural schools and one teacher school (OTS) to provide Charity Education India. The other issues involve creating awareness about the health education, their social rights and different development education program including natural farming and various vocations.

The NGOs are non government organizations who basically run by the donations. To fulfill the dream of a new India where no one will die with hunger or no one would be lagging behind, active participation from every corner of the society is required. Donate to the noble mission of the NGOs who strive for the good of our people against all the odds. Your single contribution, when multiplied by a number of people can change the present to provide a new and bright future of India.
