Tips for Shopping for a Tablet PC
Tablet PCs have changed the way computer users interact with computer systems. These gadgets are lighter and thinner than netbooks so they can be easily placed in a small bag. They offer e-mail, browsing capabilities, ability to enjoy multimedia all in a simple, flat package. As with all new technologies they can however be expensive. This article covers some useful tips to save money when shopping for a new tablet.
Screen Size:
Screen is a very important factor to consider when buying a tablet. If you want to be able to type easily and more comfortably, you should choose a tablet with a bigger and wider screen. Also, do not forget to look at the dot pitch. This is the native resolution of the screen measured against its size. The more pixels there are per square inch, the sharper and clearer the texts and pictures are. You should also take note of the contrast, brightness, and color depth.
Operating System:
The operating system should also be taken into consideration. At present, there are five major operating systems for tablets: Android, iOS, BlackBerry Tablet, webOS, and Windows. Android basically has the greatest potential for spreading since it is compatible with Motorola, LG, and Samsung. It is also compatible with services such as Google Docs, Google Maps, and Gmail.
Blackberry Tablet is one of the most recent operating systems available. The iOS, on the other hand, is most popularly known as the operating system of the iPad. It is regarded as the simplest and most user-friendly operating system due to its easy-to-use interface. Nonetheless, you can also choose Windows if you prefer to have a total computer operating system.
Processing Power
Then, you also need to consider what processor does the tablet run in? Although all tablets are basically based on ARM processor technology, you still have the choice when it comes to the brand and chip design. A lot of these processors are already dual-core. Android tablets run the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor while the iPad runs the Apple A5 chip.
Connectivity:
Moreover, you have to consider the inputs and the outputs. Tablet computers are lean so you cannot expect them to have many ports. Some models do not even have a USB port so your options are limited. Nonetheless, there are other tablets that have additional ports such as HDMI out to let you view photos and videos on a television.
See to it that you consider the features of the tablets available on the market. Keep in mind that not all popular models are best for your needs. Check out different brands and models to compare their pros and cons. Consider the ones that are right for your needs, budget, and computer know-how.
