Island escape wardrobe must-haves
You’ve been working on your bikini body for the past month, you’ve bought a girly holiday novel and updated your iPod with the latest summer tunes. Now, it’s time to pack. If you are being whisked away to a desert island this summer (or just a sunny beach location) then there are a number of essentials every girl should have in her island escape wardrobe.
Look for a swimsuit that flatters your best features, whether it be a skimpy polka dot bikini or a sexy black one-piece. Actually, pack two, chances are you will be spending a lot of time on the beach and in the ocean and there’s nothing worse than putting on a wet swimsuit.
The maxi dress is the ultimate bohemian outfit, perfect for that relaxed, hippy vibe. This seasons trends are all about floaty, airy pieces, smattered with prints or in the latest bright pastels. Look for maxi dresses in coral, aqua, lemon or fresh white.
The clue is in the name: playsuits are fun. Look for a sweet playsuit in bold Hawaiian prints, which are all over the high street this season.
A sundress to take you from beach to bar, granted, there isn’t likely to be many fancy places for dinner on a desert island, but a girl should be prepared. Look for a sundress that can take you from the beach to the bar or to a restaurant, simply by exchanging your sandals for heels and donning a collection of golden bracelets and a cute clutch.
Cute denim cut-off shorts, matched with a simple white linen top, this is the quintessential women's fashion holiday look, perfect for showing off your sun-kissed legs. A woven beach bag, a super-wide brimmed floppy hat, a sarong and a well-chosen pair of sunglasses will help top off any holiday look. The weather on a desert island is going to be quite different to what you are used to in the UK, so be prepared. Keep your tresses silky smooth with a leave in conditioner, packed plenty of sun block or risk sunburn stripes, and pack your razor to keep your pins smooth.
You never know when a tropical storm might hit, so prepare for wet weather just in case. Pack a rain poncho, practical and cute. Also, don’t forget a holiday scent. Wear this during your escape, and when you are back home every time you smell it, you will be taken right back to your island oasis.
