In addition, there are many old churches and numerous antique stores in the area. Visitors interested in the history of the Jewish peoples of Bucharest can visit the museum dedicated to the subject in the old Jewish quarter of the city. The Romanian Patriarchal Cathedral dates back to the 17th century, and is home to the tomb of the country’s patron saint. It contains many icons and frescos.
