Fish is among the most popular pets in the households. Watching the swirling movements of those carefree pets is one of the best stress-relieving activities that you can ever indulge in your leisure. Just imagine having the fish bowl in your bedroom and admiring them just before you hit the sack. A beautiful pair of fish swirling in the bowl is one of the most welcoming sights for people in any age group. However, housing the fish needs a bit of thinking, especially for the new pet owners. Apart from the food, water, filter, there are a few other things that you need to keep in mind while putting your fish in the bowl.

No doubt, fish love to make companions especially among their own breeds. Nevertheless, you need to keep in mind that not all the fish exhibit the same nature. Fish like the gold fish, mollies, and guppies are very gentle in nature and need more care whereas fish like the tiger sharks, Oscars, and piranhas are very aggressive and need to be kept away from each other. Otherwise, they may go on to injure or kill their bowl mates in a matter of minutes. So it is important on your part to find the perfect combination of fish before putting them in the bowl.

Before we talk about the pairing, let us discuss something about the fish bowl. What is so special about it? Firstly, having the fish in the bowl (as opposed to having them in rectangular and square shaped tanks) is one of the simplest ways to house your fish. The bowl gives you a clear view of the fish literally from every angle. You get to watch and enjoy every playful movement of your fish in the bowl. The bowls come in various styles. Some of them are the Classic drum style, New Bio-orb styles, and Round style.

Ideally, a pair of goldfish would be perfect for your bowl. The goldfish get along with each other very well as they are basically very gentle in nature. However, they need more spacious environment to move about. They breed only if there is enough space for them to move around. So you may choose a bigger bowl for the gold fish. There is also popular belief that having a pair of gold fish in a bowl brings good luck to the couple in the house.

The Beta or the Siamese fighter fish is also a popular pet fish good to be kept in the bowl. They are well-known for their beautifully-colored tails and fins. They grow upto a maximum length of 5 inches. However, once they get matured, there is a possibility that the pair may start fighting with each other. In that case, you may separate them for a few days and wait until the male beta starts missing its pair. Once it is ready for mating, it forms plenty of tiny bubbles at the top of the water. Then you can slowly let you female beta into the male’s bowl and wait for both to initiate the mating process. After mating, if again they start fighting, then you can separate them. Anyways, the female beta is ready to lay the eggs in a few days and you can be happy about that! Nevertheless, you may surf the web using any of the high-speed Internet connections such as the ATT Uverse and find more information about the breeding habits of the fish.

The most important thing to keep in mind while pairing your fish is that, fish of the same species/group get along well with each other provided they are gentle in nature. The aggressive ones like the piranha, tiger shark and Oscar should always be separated except during the time of mating.
