One of the easiest, most effective yet affordable forms of marketing that businesses should engage in is the use of promotional products. This is a simple yet effective way of gaining public exposure and getting customers to learn of the existence of a product as well as the company and brand name.

Small businesses and startups are usually financially challenged and are unable to match their big business counterparts. This is because marketing campaigns and advertising on regular mass media is a pretty expensive undertaking that requires. Undertaking a promotional campaign requires careful thinking and planning. Promotional marketing companies can be consulted so as to provide ideas, guidelines and advice as well as other relevant information regarding the campaign.

A good promotional campaign should ensure that a business or product brand is clearly defined. This means that if a business is being promoted so as to create awareness in the market regarding its existence, then the business should be clearly defined using the business logo, motto, catch phrase and slogans. The logo needs to be beautifully designed and the slogans catchy. These are then printed on promotional items such as mugs, tee-shirts, bags, pens, key holder, bottle openers and other similar products. The choice of promotional products for use in the marketing campaigns will largely depend on the company. It will also depend on the type of industry the business is in and who the target customer is.

Promotions should be advertised locally so that local residents of the area get to learn of the business and its products. If there will be a launch event, then members of the public that attend the function may be given freely branded items such as t-shirts, caps, arm-bands and other promotional materials.

Sometimes these products may be sold to consumers at nominal and affordable prices. By getting these branded products out to the public, awareness will be created and an interest in the business or its products created.

Sometimes, promotional products are issued in the form of gifts and presents to customers. Such products will then serve as marketing and advertising agents on behalf of any business. Calendars are a great example of gifts that can be freely distributed and then provide free advertising for a long time.

Office products such as staplers, paper punch, paper weight and others can also be branded and ten offered to loyal associates of a business such as distributors, wholesalers and even customers.
