How to Stop Debt Harassment and Collection Harassment
It is to be noted that stopping Debt Harassment is not so easy because there are many states which do not have any laws for stopping it. Actually, there are many companies which are legitimate collectors while there are others which are scam companies acting like debt collectors. Hence, the best way to stop such harassment is to gather all relevant information regarding which company is legitimate and which is not and then take any action.
These debt collecting companies do not follow any rules and keep on calling the consumers. As a result the consumers get fed up with the calls to such an extent that they do not answer them or even turn off their phone. However, it is to be noted that if a company is calling a consumer three or more than three times a day then it is violating the law. In such situations instead of avoiding these calls the consumers should note down the time, date as well as the number from which they received the call. They should also find out information about the reason for debt, name of the original creditor and the amount of money they owe. There is no need to be afraid of the collectors as you can even sue them in case you are a victim of unfair debt collection practices. This is the only way by which Debt Harassment can be stopped.
In order to stop Collection Harassment there is a need for strict rules and regulations which the debt collectors must follow. In recent times some laws known as debt collections harassment laws have been implemented. According to these laws the debt collectors cannot use unlawful, abusive behavior or deceptive practices while collecting debt from consumers. These laws provide protection to the consumers from the extreme harassment extended by the debt collectors. But these debt collection agents violate the laws that have been implemented for them to follow when they deal with the consumers. So in order to protect themselves from such harassment the consumers should take the help of legal representative and lodge a complaint against such debt collection agencies under the debt collections harassment laws.
It is very important for the consumers to remember that in order to stop Collection Harassment they will have to take some step because any kind of harassment made to them is a criminal offence and punishable by law.
In this way only Debt Harassment and Collection Harassment can be stopped.
