Welcome to Minds Abroad in China: an Introduction
Studying abroad has become the natural choice for students who have the urge to know more, much beyond the country they live in. Immersing in a different culture, people, and lifestyle is the obvious first step that one considers, and while choosing the country, statistics show that China has always been in the forefront. So, what is so mysterious about China?
Minds Abroad, which is one of the leading study abroad and volunteer programs providers in the country, describes China as the ‘Home to the world's oldest continuous civilization’. To aptly know and understand the present, one needs to trace it back to the past and everything comes together beautifully in the Chinese melting pot. The richness of history and ethnicities, economy, wealth and diversity is unmatched; the more one probes, the deeper it grows.
For a complete experience of immersion, Minds Abroad has carefully crafted two kinds of programs. The first is the Year Round Morning Class & Afternoon Activity Program and the other is the Summer Study+Travel. Both of these programs have different objectives; the first one is heavily focused on language learning and is especially tailored for those who want to understand and learn Chinese intimately. The morning classes are then followed by volunteering where students get the chance to educate children of disadvantaged backgrounds. The combination of studying and serving is unique and leaves a lasting impact; it acts as an ideal mix of learning and blending in. The students also can opt for afternoon language exchange where they pair up with local Chinese peers to have a one-to-one interaction on language practicing, Chinese customs and culture. The possibilities are endless. The flexible 4 day class schedule gives ample opportunity to students to go out and explore Yunnan on their own during the weekends.
The Summer Study+Travel program incorporates the fun of traveling with the learning and takes students to exotic places, from China’s heartland to busy, modernized metropolises. The contrast lets students have a taste of the lesser known, traditional villages and towns which encapsulate the essence of the ‘age-old China’ as well as the ‘new’ China, which is booming and moving ahead at an incredible pace. The Summer Study+Travel program is packed with energy and lets students breathe and live the experience outside of classrooms in a remarkably adventurous way.
The students have an opportunity to visit cities known for their natural beauty and cultural richness. If one were to just consider the expansive landscape along with diverse natural terrain, then China houses beautiful mountainous regions, forests, deserts, fertile river basins and even volcano clusters consisting of dozens of dormant volcanoes. The travel program encompasses not only the culture but myriad geographical landscapes that make this country unique. The China travel programs incorporate places in the itinerary which have significance both in terms of natural beauty typical of China and culture concentration, preserved in its purest form. This ensures that the experience is holistic and entertaining.
