The summer is coming and along with that coming the long waited vacations of your child’s school. Though the summer vacation is a fun time for the kids as they get a long vacation, but for parents it may bring headache also, as they have to take care of their little devils throughout the day. Many parents thus prefer to admit their kids to different summer training classes. These classes are beneficial as these develop different skills in your child and at the same time make them engaged in different productive activities. Though admitting the child into such classes is not a bad idea, but there are also different other things that parents can do with their kids during this free time, and one such thing is gardening. Apart from the benefits that gardening offers to the growing up children, this activity also offers the parents the scope to spend some good, enjoyable time with their kids. In fact kids also want to spend time with their parents and to share their ideas and thoughts with them. The act of gardening teaches the children many academic and life skills that turn out to be very beneficial in their later life.

Gardening teaches kids many skills like responsibility, perseverance, patience and also make them follow a particular routine. When we reap a particular see into the soil, we have to water the seed regularly, take care of it every day and also have to make arrangements for its healthy nurturing. These activities are greatly related to our day to day life. When we grow up or become parents, the same skills are required to live a healthy life. Moreover, the act of gardening also makes children conscious about the natural world, health and nutrition, different foods and nurtures good food habits among them. Gardening is one such activity that nurtures a healthy relation between the parents and their kids. It’s more about the time together and the chance to learn something new than it is about the actual results.

It gives the parents a chance to develop a deeper understanding about their kids. Though gardening is quite a fun activity for parents and kids, there are certain tips that parents need to follow while accomplishing this task with their kids. The following are some of the tips about gardening with your child:-

1-While choosing the plants for the garden, always think about your child’s choice; whether the child would like the vegetable or flowers to be reaped in the garden

2-Get your child kid-sized tools, especially a watering can

3-Provide your little gardeners with a copy and a pen so that they can keep record of the weather and other gardening related notes

4-Put the garden where you can see it, at kid’s level. For instance, plant it right outside of the family room window, where it will beckon your child to come out for a visit

5-Permit your child to determine the neatness or messiness of the garden.

So, no matter the size of your garden or what you plant, get your hands dirty with the kids. The fun will keep growing all summer long.
