Lighting plays a very important role in the décor of your home. It doesn’t just illuminate but can change the entire style of your interior. However, it can be difficult choosing the right lights for your home since there are so many in the market. We’ve decided to narrow down your search by giving you a few tips to help you choose the best lighting for your home.

If you have a foyer, you need to select a fixture that is stylish and illuminating. A visitors’ first impression of your house will be based on your foyer so do all you can to deck it up. Choose light that is soft but not dim.

Match your fixture according to space. Small rooms would do well with small fixtures to give the illusion of being a much larger room while big rooms give you the freedom to mix and match.

Choose more fancy lighting for formal areas like living rooms. Bedrooms should have intimate lights or leuchten called in German Language as well as fixtures for reading.

Halls and stairways tend to cast a lot of shadow so make sure they are well-illuminated to reduce chances of accidents and mishaps.

When choosing fixtures, try to select those that complement the theme of your room. A general area should have recessed fixtures as they don’t take up space but provide ample illumination.

Dining rooms can have a moderately sized chandelier over the dining table and softly illuminated lamps along the walls.

Kitchens, one the other hand, should forego fancy for practicality as it is usually one of the busiest areas in a house. Place sufficient wall lights near cutting, cooking and washing areas.

Most bathrooms are left unattended to but this shouldn’t be the case. Try to decorate your bath with trendy or stylish lighting so it doesn’t appear staid and clinical.

Energy-saving lighting is all the rage these days so make sure the bulbs you use are CFLs. They’ll save you and the earth lots of energy and money. They also come with warranties and more durable than conventional bulbs.
