Outdoor Water Features
Outdoor water features mean things like fountains and waterfalls that are suitable to be kept outside in the garden where they can help to add to the natural and peaceful feeling of being in the garden. For instance if you have an area of the back with bushes and shrubbery then you can add a waterfall feature to it and then when you get down to ground level it will look almost like a real waterfall in nature surrounded by trees and hills – making water features much more effective when moved outside.
Meanwhile the sound of water features is also one that is highly peaceful and pleasant. If you have a water feature outside then this creates the kind of peaceful trickling and babbling noise that you come to expect from nature, and one that we have evolved to find relaxing and calming. This makes being in the garden completely soothing and peaceful, and it's again suited to the outdoors where you will also have the sound of the wind rustling gently in the trees and the sound of birds chirping and chatting that can be equally as tranquil.
In the house you have somewhere where there's constantly noise and commotion, not to mention the warm somewhat oppressive air. Outdoors however you have the cool atmosphere, the fresh smelling air and the peace and quiet that you get from shutting yourself out of modern life. To then have a relaxing water feature that sounds like a peaceful river is the perfect way to send you to your happy place.
This can be even more effective in the evening, and particularly as many outdoor water features have a neon glow to them as well. And as the LEDs shine through the water of the water features, this then results in the appearance of fractured light dancing on your walls and grass in a hypnotic and peaceful way. If you want somewhere quiet and peaceful to sit and read or to drink a cup of tea or glass of wine in the evening, then have a waterfeature and a pagoda and sit under there while listening to the peaceful noise and it's the perfect therapy.
Your garden will also benefit from having water in it which attracts a range of wildlife. Birds will come to bath in your water features and other animals like squirrels and hedgehogs will come to drink from them. This is an ideal way to attract an ecosystem to your garden that is not only fascinating and fun to watch (particularly if you are an animal lover) but also that can help to maintain your garden. Attracting hedgehogs to your garden for instance is a great way to get rid of worms and slugs, and birds can help to do this too – allowing you to keep an organic garden that doesn't rely on pesticides.
And on top of all this your water features are great features in themselves. They will be fascinating and fun to watch, and particularly if you have children you'll find they love splashing in them and throwing coins in to make wishes.
