Luxury Bedding Buying Tips

Everyone deserves a little pampering. With all the hard work that you do on a daily basis, having a cozy bed to come home to is not too much to ask. But then again, luxury bedding and linens do not come cheap these days.

That is why if you are planning to get yourself a good set of sheets, you better know what to look for. The last thing that you would want is to pay so much for knock-offs or substandard products.

Here are four things to keep in mind when buying luxury beddingsets and linens:

Thread Count A bedding's thread count will determine the luxury level of the sheet spot-on. It is usually indicated on the packaging, so if you already know what it means, you will save a lot of time just by looking at the bedding's label. But for the benefit of those who do not know what a thread count indicates, it refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count of the fabric, the softer it is to touch.

While buying linens with higher thread counts ensure a silk-like feel to the material, keep in mind that this kind of fabrics are very delicate so they should be laundered with utmost care. Type of Fabric While luxury linens are made from different fibers and materials - both synthetic and natural - the top choice has always been cotton. Cotton linens come in three varieties: Egyptian Cotton, Pima Cotton, and Standard Cotton. Egyptian cotton is the most expensive among the three because it gives the most luxurious feel.

Pima cotton on the other hand gives a smooth texture but is more reasonably priced compared to Egyptian cotton. Standard cotton is the least expensive of the three. Right Size There is nothing more inconvenient than having to go back to the store and line up to the returns and refunds section because the luxury bedding set you bought is the wrong size. To avoid an unnecessary trip such as this, make it a point to measure your bed twice and write it down.

Take your bed's length, width, and depth. Remember, fitted sheets should be tucked under the corner and should not flail at the middle of the mattress. Have a Spare (or Two) Although indulgent beddings and linens are a little expensive than the regular variety, it would be wise to buy a couple of spare sets if you have the resources.

A bedding set usually includes flat and fitted sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers and comforters. However, buying only one set will present a problem once you decide to wash the set. Whereas having three sets of linens will make sure that your bed is never empty - one bedding set will be in the laundry, one will be in your linen closet for backup, and one will be available for use. Having a spare bedding set is also ideal for those who have kids or pets in the house.
