Are you looking for a clean, minimalistic, yet elegant way to decorate your bedroom? You should consider using the colors black and white. Using black and white as your two main bedroom colors allows you to do a number of fun things like mix and match prints, or add in pops of vibrant color with small things. Black and white can create a real modern and sleek look to your bedroom, giving it a clean non-cluttered feel that will create a calming ambiance and give you a better night sleep.

Furniture will play a big role in a black and white bedroom. You will want to paint big pieces of furniture one solid color. Either all white or all black. You can add prints and patterns but it’s typically a good idea to add prints with smaller items and accessories. Big items like a bedframe, dresser, desk, or armoire can be painted in all one color so that you can add accessories in another, or you can paint your furniture in a mix of both. One way is not better than the other, it will all be based on your personal design taste and style.

Your walls will play a big part in your black and white bedroom. The obvious is to go with all white walls. This can oftentimes make everything much simpler. It is advised against all black walls. No one wants to be in a room surrounded by four black walls. A better idea is to mix and match, even painting each wall a different color. Take into consideration ideas like painting three walls white and one black. You can even go with a wall paper and make one of your walls a black and white print. Stay open to ideas and you will be surprised with what you come up with.

Accessories are always the fun part. You can go with the obvious and get contrasting pillows for your bed, or add a contrasting rug to your walls. You can hang white wall mirrors or black wall mirrors to create some added light and space. Find items like curtains in black and white prints, or shades and sheers in interesting materials. Don’t forget lighting either. There are some beautiful lamps and chandeliers that can create a real elegance to a black and wide space. Accessories don’t have to cost a lot of money to make a real impact.

A black and white bedroom is a unique and elegant way to create an ambiance and space that you will always want to be in.
