Window shades have always offered an easier and neater window solutions compared to its more conventional counterparts. They are usually free of additional maintenance, they come in a variety of designs and styles and most importantly, window shades are perfect for any kind of interiors, be it traditional or contemporary. All these reasons have made window shades per se, popular enough that these options of window coverings are witnessing an all time rise in sale. To add to the existing advantages, one of the newest and most desirable inventions that have been rocking the market of window shades is in the name of honeycomb cellular shades.

As the name itself suggests the honeycomb cellular shades consist of honeycomb like cells that contain trapped air in it. The very purposes of air trapping is for the sake of enhancing the benefits of window shades to yet another extent and add the facility of insulation to it. This simply means that these shades are made capable of keeping the rooms in which they are installed, warmer during winters and cooler during summers. Trapped air has its advantages, and this is nothing but simple science. What happens is, the air in the pockets prevent heat from escaping the interiors of the house during colder seasons, and does not allow the heat to enter the house during the peak of summers . . . air being a non negotiable insulator to all.

This simple science has been used in a plain yet innovative way, to come up with a window solution that is expected to take over the entire market of window coverings in the forthcoming years. The main reason why honeycomb cellular shades are gaining popularity is because of its contribution towards lowering the energy bills of any house where it is installed. Being capable of providing effective insulation, home owners will not be required to use electric heaters or coolers (air conditioners etc), as much as they may otherwise be required to. At the end of the year, the amount of money saved will be astounding!!

Besides the usual, honeycomb cellular shades come in a variety of materials, designs and styles. People can choose according to their preferred décor or utility. For instance, you may choose from translucent shades that allow partial entry of lights to the blackout shades that allow no lights at all. When these shades are drawn, you can expect not just insulation but complete blockage of sunlight which aids in keeping the room very cool. Roller shades for windows are also known for providing similar benefits and are often combined with the idea that rules honeycomb shades. Installing either of the two or both, or their combined versions can take you effectively towards an environmental friendly and energy saving future.

Whoever thought that simple window solutions could go a long way in helping with electricity and money saving!! However, masterful involvement of simple science to everyday life and home products has made this possible and agreeable to all.
