There are several ways in which you can use your curtains. For instance – give your windows more height by placing the curtain rod a few inches above its designated spot. Buy a few extra meters of curtain material and let it trail a bit on the floor. It adds to the illusion of greater height. If you would like to bring in the sunshine, add around 45 cms more to the length of the curtain on each side of your rod. This way you can pull aside the curtain without covering the panes. This is a great way to make small windows look much bigger than they are.

Most people are often torn between adding a lining to their curtains and leaving things as is. Giving your curtains a lining will protect the material for dirt on the window sill or from an open window. It also acts as means of insulation by keep excessive light and heat out. The flip side to this is that curtains without lining are much easier to manage and can be washed and dried much faster.

If you have sheer curtains, then you will know that excessive exposure to light will make it fade away. Instead add some thick drapes to it to give you the flexibility of changing the look and protecting your sheer curtains.

Curtains serve multiple purposes – they allow you to play with light coming into your home. It helps protect your furniture from fading away from being exposed to sunlight. It can keep in the warmth in warmth in winter and bring in the sunshine in summer. Choosing the right kind of curtains will go a long way.
