Understanding the Purpose of the Plastic End Cap

Plastic end cap is a very simple device that also has a very simple purpose. It is used for covering the pipe ends. That may seem very simple but that does not mean that it is not significant. Using an end cap is very important in order to maintain the clean interior of the pipes. When the pipes are manufactured, they do not reach their destinations right away. Some of them are stored in the warehouses first while the others are transported to distant locations. Transporting the pipes may take some time and during that long period of time, a lot of dirt and other foreign particles could contaminate the interior of the pipes. To prevent this from happening, you will need to use the end cap made out of plastic.

During the transportation of the pipes, they could also be exposed to wet weather conditions which could place them at risk of corrosion. Once the pipes reach their destination, they may already be declared unusable because of the corrosion. A lot of money could be lost in the process when the corroded pipes have to be transported back and then replaced with new ones. To prevent this from happening, you will need to place end caps.

This very simple but useful end cap is made out of plastic and is attached to the pipe ends. Aside from keeping the interior of the pipes clean and free from any corrosion, the end caps also help prevent the edges of the pipes from becoming damaged while they are being transported to their destination. Some pipe manufacturers have already made it mandatory to transport their pipes with end caps attached. Plastic cap ends are very advantageous because they are lightweight which means that they do not add additional weight to the total weight of the pipes being transported. The cost of transporting the pipes could increase with the additional weight of the cargo so it is important not to add more weight to the pipes. The use of the end cap is very advantageous for both the pipe manufacturer and the client as well.

The end cap has different types such as the tapered end cap which is a newer design. This type of end cap has more flexibility in usage since it can be used in pipes of different diameters. Another type is the threaded end cap which is used in pipes with a specific diameter.
