Wood is a versatile material used for furniture, utensils, art and sports equipment. It’s also a good construction material for housing components like floors and doors. Various trees are cut to make wooden floors, which include the following.

Red and White Oak

Oak is one of the most popular hardwood materials due to its beauty and durability. Red oak is the more traditional choice, prized for its wide graining patterns and its various hues that range from light golden to reddish pink. White oak, on the other hand, is harder, has thinner graining patterns than red oak, and has a golden brown color. Because of their tannin content, both red and white oak are resistant to insect and fungi attacks.

American Cherry

This tree is typically found in the Midwestern and Eastern United States. The wood of the American cherry ranges from gold to reddish, and has fine, wavy graining. Cherry is used for furniture as well as flooring, and the wood changes color with exposure to light.

Hard Maple

Maple is highly resistant to wear and abrasion, as proven by its high ranking in the Janka hardness test of 1450, which makes it an ideal flooring material. Its color ranges from light reddish-brown to cream, and is normally finely grained. It also polishes well, so maintenance is a breeze.

Brazilian Cherry or Jatoba

The jatoba is another wood that has garnered a good Janka rating. It’s popular as a material for hardwood Tampa houses use because of its wide array of colors, which ranges from orange brown to reddish brown. Like the American Cherry, the jatoba wood changes color when exposed to sunlight and other environmental factors like Tampa’s humid subtropical climate. A special finish may be applied to slow down the color change.

Ash

This wood is like a lighter version of oak used for the type of wood flooring Tampa houses have. Ash is also used for equipment like baseball bats that require endurance, and is ideal as a floor for heavily used rooms. White ash has a rating of 1320 on the Janka Hardness Test.

Birch

Sweet birch is the hardest of these types, with a Janka rating of 1470. The combination of light cream and dark brown or red color of the wood along with the graining pattern makes the birch wood flooring Tampa houses have attractive to the eyes.
