Examining NH Roofers' Advanced Tools of the Trade

A soldier would never go into battle without his weapon; similarly, you would not go up the roof without the right tools. A smart roofer knows what to carry with him, when to bring the right tools, and how to use them safely. Hardware equipment like a hammer, measuring tape, nails, and chalk are basic tools not only in roofing but for any repair job. Here is a look at more advanced tools a roofer may carry with him during a project.

Air knife: One thing is certain about air knives: they are not the same as air guitars. An air knife is a common tool that harnesses the power of compressed air to make clean cuts particularly to roofing shingles with a thick laminate. The pneumatic force makes cutting shingles easier than cutting them using brute force. As an air knife reduces the force required to make the clean cut, it also reduces any jagged cuts possible in force cutting.

Roofing nailer: You can tell that roofers mean serious business when they nail shingles in place with a pneumatic roofing nailer. Like the air knife, the roofing nailer uses compressed air to nail the roofing nail appropriately. It is one of the most commonly used tools by many roofers for its effectiveness in nailing roofing materials firmly. Think of it as firing a gun at the roof at point blank range.

Staplers: More than fastening sheets of paper, roofing staplers NH roofers use fasten shingles in place as firmly as a nail. Since the wrong hit with the hammer may force the nail to damage the shingles, roofers use roof staplers for homes with asphalt shingles. Pneumatic roofing staplers finish the job firmly and cleanly without applying too much force. The result is a firm and clean look for the roof.

Crowbar: If the job is to replace the entire roofing system, NH roofers use crowbars to remove the old in preparation for the new. This steel bar with bent ends helps roofers carefully remove damaged parts of the roofing system. Roofers have to exercise care when doing replacement work to maintain structural integrity for the entire roofing system. Roofers may use more than one type of crowbar for the job.

NH roofing requires the right tools and their proper use to ensure the high quality roof residents will surely enjoy. Some roofers may do it the old-fashioned way, while others may choose to fortify roofs with pneumatic tools. No matter what method of roofing repair or replacement you choose, the important thing is for the roofer to have the right tools to finish the job.
