One Displayport to replace Several Cables

If you ever had or if you still possess an old monitor, you would see that they either use VGA or DVI cables to display the output on the screen. Every time you change the monitor to a different place or replace it with another one, you would have to unplug and then again plug in these cables. If your working environment requires you to use more than one monitor, imagine the pain of connecting individual cables to each of these and then the work it needs when moving the monitors. To avoid these hassles, the Video Electronics Standard Association, simply put- VESA, has standardized a new cable known as displayport that replaced VGA and DVI cables for sure.

Displayport is a more advanced cable and has much more speed in transferring data than its predecessors. Moreover, it can handle up to four screens or monitors, on its own, in a single second, as it has a transfer rate of about 2 gigs per second. That's not all; these monitors are not ordinary display screens, but high resolution ones. Hence, the displayport is a very handy cable and not just a fancy looking one. Speaking of which, another major advantage of display ports is its size.

Displayports are much smaller in size than the DVI or VGA ports. Not only that, but they are quite flexible and easy to plug in, as they do not have any screws to hold the cable in place. Because of the small size, high speed data transfer and flexibility of displayports, monitor manufacturers are now focusing their attention on making thinner and better quality (high resolution) monitors. Even though the initial thinner monitors did have the VGA or DVI option, they are now completely being replaced by displayports. And even if you have more than one monitor, you need not worry about the number of cords, as you can branch (or chain ) a number of monitors to a single system, using a single displayport.

Displayports come quite handy when we need to connect a laptop to the monitor. Previously, the connection would have looked more tardy; not anymore. Displayports are also used to connect your laptop or monitor to a HD television, using a HDMI displayport. Not only your laptop, but some other modern multimedia devices are also employing the HDMI displayport into their products, so that consumers can connect more than one visual device to their monitors or televisions. So, why watch your favorite movies on a small laptop or monitor, when you can plug in HDMI displayports to see the entire movie in real high-definition? It's all plug and play after all!

In order to get a good displayport, you need not even step outside your house. You can simply browse through the internet to find some reliable cable distributers who deal with all sorts of displayports, including mini displayports. There are some really reasonable and dependable online cable suppliers and distributors, who can give you a good deal, sometimes even better, than your local retailer.
