One of the serious set-back every inkjet printer owner face is the increasing cost of new cartridges. However, despite the expensive ink cartridges, the printers are successfully the No.1 choice of many for its typically lower price in the market. Do you know that you can buy ink refill kits and do the refilling all by yourself? This is undoubtedly a very affordable alternative but it may sound complicated to someone. Basically, the process is relatively easy and you just need to follow up step by step guidelines.

At first, you need to choose a particular ink refill kit for your printer. You can find this at any store that deals in office supplies or you can search online at various websites. Online you will come up with a myriad of websites offering office supplies. The kit comes with ink, syringe to fill your cartridge with and filling instruction. Before you begin with the process, be prepared for messes if in case thing go wrong. Therefore, it is recommended to place several sheets of paper towel or newspaper over the surface you are carrying out the job. Also, you can wear disposable gloves to save your hands from stains. Most important is to read the instructions that are provided with your kit to see how to refill your cartridge.

To get started, fill the syringe from the bottle of black ink then find out the small fill hole at the top of your cartridge. It is also a better idea to wipe up the top of the cartridge with a soft cloth or tissue before you begin. The instructions will guide you where to locate the holes on your cartridge. Once you get the specific hole for the black ink, you can then carefully fill in the hole with ink. Also, you must know from the instruction that how much ink your cartridge can hold.

Once the cartridge is full, you will then carefully wipe top of the unit with a damp cloth or tissue and put it back into your printer soon. If you are filling a colored cartridge, then there are 3 colors of ink: magenta, cyan, and yellow. You should fill your syringes accordingly. All the time you must make sure to take your time and inject the ink slowly so as not to make a mess. When you are completed, put the cartridge back in the printer immediately and then print a test page to ensure the quality.
