Super DLT or SDLT backup tape is the extended and improved form of intelligent DLT storage format. SDLT tape format provides robust and long term data security to your priceless data. SDLT media technology allows the data mangers to archive & backup the sensitive documents at lowest cost. Clients of the data centers and midrange servers can rely on the economical solution of Super DLT tape.

Fujifilm is global leader of midrange tape storage products. Fuji is proud to introduce SDLT II tape cartridge, which represents the 2nd version of SDLT backup tape. Newly designed Fuji SDLT II tape cartridges provide higher capacity of 300GB/600GB. Fuji SDLT-2 tape technology has the ability to handle the growing demands of midrange servers and busy data centers in a cost effective manner. Stringent laws can be effectively met with the high quality Fuji SDLT 2 tapes.

Fujifilm’s unique ATOMM media coating technology has helped to raise the data throughput and durability of Super DLT tape cartridges. These Fuji SDLT tapes provide outstanding compatibility. When Fuji SDLT II backup tape is used with Quantum’s SDLT600 drive, it achieves speed of 36 MB/sec and 300GB native capacity. You can transform the Fuji SDLT-II tape into a WORM enabled cartridge with the help of Quantum’s DLT-Ice functionality.

Archival life of Fuji Super DLT tape is 30 years. Faster speed and capacity offering of Fuji SDLT-2 with the SDLT-600 drive makes it the perfect choice for data rich environments such as broadcast and video editing.

SDLT II tapes manufactured by other companies are:

Fuji 26300201, SDLT II tape

HP Q2020A Super DLT II tape

16988, Imation SDLT II tape

183715, Maxell Super DLT II backup tape

MRS2MQN01, Quantum SDLT II tape

Engineers of Fuji and Quantum have worked closely with each other to introduce new advancements to the SDLT-2 tape technology, and make it a high performance storage format. Joint efforts of Fuji and Quantum have helped to develop an innovative application for the broadcast industry. This new application is called “DLT-xchange”. DLT-xchange along with SDLT-600 drive enables the video professionals to utilize file based workflow in HD (high definition) and digital environment.

The recording media of Fuji SDLT-II tape is composed of an ultra fine metal particle layer and a lower non-magnetic layer. Both of these layers are simultaneously applied to the SDLT-II tape’s base film. This media coating process helps to ensure higher recording density, increased output frequency and significantly low self-demagnetization.

Fuji has introduced several other innovative media manufacturing technologies that improve its read/write accuracy and useful life. These new high performance technologies include advanced Tape cutting mechanism, Laser Guided Magnetic Recording and Pivoting Optical Servo (POS). Advanced tape cutting system enhances the accuracy of slitting blades and ensures finely cut half inch tape reel in every Fuji SDLT-2 backup tape. The capacity of Fuji SDLT II tape is increased by the Laser Guided Magnetic Recording technology. This new mechanism creates room for additional data storage by shifting the servo information to the media’s back side. Therefore the front side of the tape remains free for additional encoding tracks. POS (Pivoting Optical Servo) combines the laser servo guidance and magnetic data recording to sustain accurate alignment of tape track during read/write cycles.
