Diablo 3 Monk Guide to Active and Passive Skills
This Diablo 3 monk guide is meant to provide an overview of both the active and passive abilities of such a unique and impressionable character. It's perhaps one of the more interesting twists to the melee class in a long time. Blizzard went to great lengths, and they definitely delivered.
Monk Passive Buffs: To make Diablo 3 monk skills customizable and challenging to master, especially when combined with such an extensive list of Skill Runes, passive buffs compliment primarily increased damage and reliable defenses.
Once a player has reached level ten, both Fleet Footed, which allows the monk to get around 10% faster, and Resolve, which lowers incoming damage by 25% for a few seconds upon successful attacks, become available. At level thirteen Exalted Soul unlocks, which can increase Spirit, the most crucial resource by 100. Then at level 16, Transcendence can make it so that the monk is healed 62hp for every point of spirit spent! A true Diablo 3 monk guide would reveal this.
Pacifism, available at level 30, is a great defensive ability. If the monk is stunned, feared, or charmed it'll reduce overall damage by 75%. Beacon of Ytar, also unlocked at level thirty, is a 15% overall reduction on cooldowns.
In the fifties Combination Strike, which elevates damage output by 8% every time a monk employs a spirit producing skill, comes in play. At level fifty eight, Near Death Experience, a truly life saving defensive ability, is available. Instead of dying on the battlefield to a deadly blow, the Diablo 3 monk is rejuvenated to 35% hp and spirit.
Monk Active Abilities
While Monks do Holy Damage, make no mistake, they’re not anything like a typical priest archetype. In fact, the Diablo 3 monk is an ingenious mix of melee intensive game play, and visually invigorating graphics. Mantras are especially interesting, and suited to compliment any situation. While only one can be engaged at a time, they add to the overall feeling of spiritual kung fu mastery. This Diablo 3 monk guide will give a brief overlay of abilities in six categories.
• Primary: Fists of Thunder, Deadly Reach, Crippling Wave, and Way of the Hundred Fists.
• Secondary: Lashing Tail Kick, Tempest Rush, and Wave of Light.
• Defensive: Blinding Flash, Breath of Heaven, Serenity, and Inner Sanctuary.
• Techniques: Dashing Strike, Exploding Palm, and Sweeping Wing.
• Focus: Cyclone Strike, Seven-Sided Strike, and Mystic Ally.
• Mantras: Mantra of Evasion (dodge), Mantra of Retribution (thorns effect), Mantra of Healing (+hp regen), and Mantra of Conviction (increased dps).
As this is just a brief overview of the Diablo 3 Monk, their skills and abilities, more information can be found at the official Diablo 3 site or other fan-based created sites as well as reviews.
