Most of the Indian restaurants outside India try to customize the cooking in order to suit the locals. This is not usually true when it comes to the authentic south Indian cuisine. The food is usually prepared with the traditional food cooking techniques and spices added without compromising the taste and preparation methods. One should be well informed on the Indian delicacies in order to be able to choose the authentic restaurants. For appetizers, one can use samosa, bonda, cutlets or pakora made with rice flour or even chick pea and added the Indian vegetables and spices. The chicken pakora deep fried to a crispy taste can be the best choice for meat lover. One can also sample the papads and lentil chips flavors.

One can also enjoy the authentic coconut chutney made with herbs, spices and coconuts. The chutney is usually best served with idly and dosas which are made from rice and cooked in a pan to give them shapes. Bharta is perfect side dishes for curries. It is usually cooked with tomatoes, sautéed onion, garlic, eggplant as well as spices like chilli powder, cumin, peppercorn and coriander. The bharta when served usually has a smoky flavor when served. In addition, the bharta side dish is served with roti, the Indian bread.

What one requires to understand about the South Indian vegetarian dining is that the vegetable dishes are usually served with whole meal Indian bread. There usually many different types of Indian breads those are available. The breads depend with their consistencies and thickness. Some of the breads are roti, paratha, phulka and naan. The Indian breads are usually made in tandoors. The breads are usually deep fried in oils and put in a poori, which is wide dish and served with Chenna Masala or chicken peas.

What one is most likely not to miss in a south Indian family restaurant is the various varieties of vegetables which are cooked in coconut milk with the addition of spices. Some of the spices included are pepper, turmeric, cumin, cumin and coriander. This dish is served with steamed rice or even bread. There is also an available cooking method available for preparing chicken, prawns and lamb. Among the Indian dishes, chicken tikka and buttered chicken masala are the most common. One can sample from the menu provided by the restaurant one has visited for the meal. Other options of different Indian cuisine may be available in the south Indian restaurant and on enquiring one can be guided to make an informed choice of the meal to take.

Apart from offering Indian main course delicacies, there is also Indian dessert. The desert is usually taken after main meals. The desserts are made out of milk, sugar and butter. Some of the common Indian desserts are payasam, which is made from gukab jamun and lenti and rassagollas which is made from cheese and sugar water. If one is not used to taking the chillies common in south Indian recipes they could request for medium recipes.
