Cordyceps is an ascomycete or a fungus whose life starts as that of a worm in winter, it becomes a mushroom plant by summers. It is a parasitiod, a monstrous one. It crouches and then hides. Then is attacks its host insect that is unsuspecting. Though the Cordyceps Sinensis is like a monster to the ants and little caterpillars in Far East, but to us humans it is a great blessing.

In some places they are even used in treating cancers as they have properties that are anti-metaststic. Cordyceps Sinensis are anti inflammatory and anti oxidant. They do not look very pretty and cannot be eaten in their raw form.
