Job cuts dwarfing tax efforts: MP’s
Quite a lot of efforts have been done by the tax authority of the UK in order to make collection of the taxes that were outstanding but it would have been better if there were no job cuts during that time, this is what many Member Of Parliaments that is MP’s believed.
An addition of 4.32 billion pounds has been added in the span of last 5 years which was even more than that of 11 times than what the investment in the new programme of HM Revenue and Customers that HMRC is concerned
But on the other hand according to a report by Public Accounts Committee if no jobs was lost at HMRC then 1.1 billion pounds could have been added in. according to a union that the tax collection was on a low because of the cuts in the jobs.
Mark Serwotka, who is the general secretary of the Public and Commercial Services union was of the view that as far as the case of investment in the public service is concerned there could be no starker and also it is very much obvious that it was in HMRC. But then also the government is making a plan that they are going to make a cut of 10,000 more number of jobs from the department in the years that are going to come in future. In the last 5 year programme, around 3300 jobs were cut down and in addition to this 26000 were the employees of HMRC in the department of compliance as well as enforcement work. Till the time 2014-15 is going to come another 917 million pounds are going to get collected in, in the form of taxes.
The members of the committee were of the view that the main lesion that was learned was that previous tax collection programmes should be used in making most of it in the form if investment as well.
The Member of Parliament had to say that they were in a lot shock because HMRC had come up in order to authorize tax avoidance as far as the senior public sector employees were concerned.
Margaret Hodge, who was the head of the committee had to say that it is quite an amazing thing that if the department was under any kind of situation to give an advice that is not acceptable from the side of a public servant who is still working.
