Writing critical analysis of research is the most difficult, and the most important, task of the entire dissertation. This is the chapter where you put forward you argument and explanations. If you are successful in composing an interesting and mind grabbing analysis, then you are definitely worth being praised.

But, of course, for the composition of a successful critical analysis of publications, you need to follow some rules and regulations. And you will also need some tips and guidelines to help you in the process. I am going to share with you some fabulous ways of conducting literature review, ways that really helped me out in my assignment and got me wonderful grades!

First I had to understand what literature review really is!

It is a collection of different types of information on a subject. Analysis could be of anything; it could be government documents, organizational cash flows, or scholarly articles. And writing an analysis does not entirely mean that you have to give your opinion, it could mean a lot of other things as well. Basically, it is a collection of written material on a given topic. You have to get your hands on every type of information you can. After collecting the information, you just summarize it.

Ways of finding appropriate information sources:

Digital origins:

A lot of relevant information can be accessed very easily on electronic databases. In this case, you can take help from the librarian of your digital library or from your committee or the board of dissertation examiners.

You can find numerous relevant data on the digital devices in your library and on the internet, data including policy documents, standards, archive material, videos, and audio collections. All the data relevant to your dissertation and topic can be found in your department.

Sources of references:

Your committee will have suggested you some very useful sources of information relating to your research. You can go through that list, and if you find it insufficient, you can look for more informative references in the subject related section of the library, or consult your professor who might suggest you some more references.

Manual searching of journals:

Digital data search can be sometimes unreliable because most of the time the keywords don’t match the content of the articles perfectly. There is a possibility that some of the very good important articles might be left undetected. So, in spite of having admission to electronic databases and to digital searching techniques, it can be amazingly helpful to have a mass of journals actually on your writing table, and to go through the contents pages, and the case-by-case articles.

Writing a literature review is very important to dissertation. It discusses the research that has been already made in the field. Sometimes, the student is required to limit his analysis to a certain period of time.
