Some Guidelines for Parents Who Have Pets
Today almost in every household in a metropolis we can find a pet. It may be a dog, a cat or even some kind of birds also. Some people also like to have reptiles as pet animals in their house. From the time immemorial, human beings have domesticated different animals in their household. In the ancient time, farmers used to domesticate dogs so that these can protect their cattle from the outside dangers. In the modern day also, dog is considered to be the most ideal pet animal to be domesticated in a household. These animals sometime become the best mate of the young members of the family, especially of the kids. Kids love playing with them and at the same time develops a strong relation with also. The deepness of the relation among pets and children varies from age to age.
But the common mistake that most of the people made in an impulsive mood is that they don’t consider the degree of commitment that they have to make to the pet before bringing it home. In the pet shops you can find a number of animals to choose from. But most of them cannot live in a close environment. Before considering all these issues, many people simply buy them in an impulsive mood.
Having a pet in the house where kids are there have the benefits of its own. The relation that kids develop with their domesticated animal may teach them various life skills. Patience and taking care of each other are the prime things that kids learn from this relation. But while choosing a pet animal for your child, you should consider certain things first. The first thing to consider is the age of the child. The second thing is to look for whether there is enough space in your house to keep it or not. Lastly, whether your child likes it or just become afraid of it. Many children couldn’t develop a healthy relation with their domestic animals and thus in such cases consequences become negative. Moreover there are certain safety guidelines also that parent must follow who have pets in their household. Some of the guidelines are briefly discussed below:-
1-If your child is below 4 year of age, never leave the child alone with a pet. The child may not develop the understanding as to how to deal with the animal and thus accident may happen at any moment
2-First teach your child how to behave with the animal and them let them play. This will ensure full security to your child
3-Always teach your child never to bother the animal when the animal was eating or sleeping. Doing so can make the animal annoyed and thus they may bite the child also
4-Show your child which games are acceptable to play with the pet
5-Respect an animal’s sign that it wants to be left alone. Hissing, growling, retreating, lip curling, and flattened ears are all signs that it has had enough.
Pet experts recommend that dogs and cats are spayed or neutered before they have a chance to reproduce, so make sure to discuss this with your vet.
