Students aspiring to study in medical courses are to be found in every state. Parents everywhere wish their wards to become doctors with a successful life in the future after they go through the rigours of studying medicine courses in the medical colleges. Various institutes are found in the country, where students can go for the engineering, management, technical and other professional courses. Many of these institutes are seen to be located in the big cities of the country, because of the presence of various companies and organisations.

It is common to see the colleges mushrooming in the metro cities or the tier I cities of the country. India has a lot of such cities where the government as well as the private organisations are keen on opening the institutes. Some cities have been well established as educational hubs like that of Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, etc. So finding various colleges in such places is a common thing. Even the medical colleges can be found in large numbers in the Tier I cities in the country.

By the presence of the institutes in such cities, it is seen that the students from the smaller cities and towns of the country are not able to access the education due to some problem or the other. Many cannot leave their home town due to the responsibilities that they might be having in their families. Some of them are not economically advanced to go to the colleges in metro cities. There are plenty of other reasons which can vary from one person to another. But to solve such an issue, it is better if the colleges are found in the cities which are smaller and have less population than the metro cities.

Nowadays, with road and rail communication improving in many of the Tier II cities in the country, it is becoming increasingly possible for the government as well as the private organisations to open different institutes in these cities. Therefore, it is not a surprise that many of the smaller cities in the country are having one or more than one college in a particular stream.

When it comes to the matter of opening medical colleges in such cities, the need is further aggravated. Students from the smaller cities are highly benefited if they have medical colleges in and around their home town. Along with the students, the patients of the region are benefited if they find the medical colleges as they can now access quality medical treatment which is possible in a tertiary centre like the medical college. Therefore, the opening up of medical colleges in Calicut was beneficial for the students of the city and other villages and regions around it.

Medical colleges in Calicut serve a huge population of the state of Kerala with regards to the medical education and the patient treatments. Medical colleges in Visakhapatnam in the state of Andhra Pradesh have become quite useful for this rapidly developing port city. Students from regions around the city and the patients in the vicinity are highly benefited due to the presence of medical colleges in Visakhapatnam.

A large number of students have also been benefited by the presence of medical colleges in Mysore which is located in the state of Karnataka. Patients are able to have access to an improved health set up in their district. Students from the city of Mysore and nearby regions are no more required to go away from their homes as the medical colleges in Mysore now serve their wishes to become successful doctors. It pays hugely in the long run to have medical colleges in smaller cities because India’s masses are living in villages to a large extent, thereby making it mandatory for various organisations to give an eye towards the facilitation of health services through medical colleges in such cities.
