The introduction is the face of your paper. It contains the opening statement of your topic. So it should be very appealing to the reader so that he is compelled to read further.

1.Many students do not know how to write a history dissertation. It should contain a brief discussion of your topic. You just have to tell the reader what you are going to discuss in your paper, give him a general idea about your topic argument.

2.Your topic of research is the foundation of your introduction. At the beginning, you are going to state what your problem is and why you have chosen this question to answer. You writing language should be as such that the reader gets a clear idea what you are talking about.

3.A good introduction contains at least two purposes purposes of writing the theses. You give the reader at least two reasons for taking up this research. Moreover, also tell him which research methods you have used, and give them a brief explanation of those methods.

4.Your introduction should not be longer than four or five sentences. Remember that you are not telling the whole story in your introduction, just giving a general idea. That is all Because you do not want to bore the reader before he comes to the main part.

5.Your opening statement should be a grabbing one. It should be bait By just reading the introduction he should feel that he is going on for something interesting. It is better if you start with a quote or a saying. But do not forget to use references if you are using direct quotes. Do not forget to mention the name of the person who said it, or any reference.

6.The next sentences are just informative, telling about the topic, research question, and research methodology.

7.It is better if your last sentence is the topic sentence, because you want to make your introduction a good introduction, not a bad one. And a good introduction creates desire in the reader to read on.

Many students do not know how to write the introduction even when it is about writing the introduction of history dissertation proposal. This is the first chapter of the thesis, and should be a little catchy. You introduction will serve as the first impression of your work. So you would not want your first impression to go bad on the reader. Rather it should be mind blowing. Prepare a sample and get its introduction approved by your instructor.
