How to teach Kids Table etiquettes
Manners are something that has always been praised over the ages. In fact, when we talk to people, we expect them to be well-mannered. Similarly, others also expect the same from us. Likewise, being parents it is necessary to teach your children table manners. When they show rudeness in the dining table, it ruins the entire meal session. With their ill-mannered attitude they spoil the mood of the others who are on the same table having their meal, and it is important for anybody to have their food with a calm mind.
Teach your children some of these following table manners from an early age:
1-Many children are not aware of what to say in front of others or the right action to take. If you are throwing any party, strictly train your kids to properly open the door and take any coats. Tell them how to shake hands properly and how to comfortably hug their relatives, especially the elderly people or the folks with any kind of disabilities.
2- If you are serving starter, teach your kids to act as a host/hostess of the party. Also teach them what and how to ask, if required how to not interrupt in mid of any conversations, and to ask others what their choice is. If somebody is offering them to eat anything, teach them how to accept it or how to graciously refuse it. If the item seems to be unappetizing, tell them not to react rudely or make fun of it, rather decline it without commenting on its smells, tastes or looks like.
3-When they sit for dinning teach them how to slowly pull a chair without making any noise. If any of your children is a boy then teach him to pull the chair for the girl sitting beside him for the meal. Also teach them to do the same for the older guests, as it is a sign of paying respect.
4-As your children to place a napkin on their lap and to sit up straight and near the table. Make sure to instruct your children not to keep their elbows on the table.
5-Make them practice the table manners at home like passing the food and asking for something to the person sitting next to them, rather than jumping across the table to get it and to take only according to the need of their stomach. Tell them not to take so much that they have to waste later.
6-Ask them to eat with fingers only if it is meant to be eaten with fingers. Use utensils to finish the food that have been served on plate.
7-Instruct your children strictly not to lick their fingers while eating, whatever and however tasty the food is. Also tell them not to burp after eating because it gives the worst and dirty impression to others.
8-One of the most important table manners is not to talk too much while having your food. Tell your children to finish their food with maintaining silence on the table, so that others can also eat their part of food delightfully.
Teach your children these etiquettes to avoid embarrassing situations and also help the toddlers to establish the manners within themselves for the rest of their lives.
