It will be a dream of every student studying in their 10+2 classes to get a career in armed forces in the post of doctor. Study medical and serving the nation by getting recruited into the army is a big dream of many a students. And they are getting this dream fulfilled by working hard to get into the armed forces medical college or AFMC located in Pune. This is an esteemed institution which was started to support the post graduation curriculum in the medical science and was subsequently admitting MBBS students in the forthcoming years.

Presently, the status of AFMC has grown to huge proportions and this is being sought after the best minds of the country, for which they have to compete by appearing in an entrance exam. So, it is important for the students who are aiming at AFMC 2012 to be prepared to face the competition and come out successfully in the endeavour to secure a seat in the college.

Since the processing of the admission and the affairs of the college is under the armed forces, people are required to serve in the army corps for a few years after completion of the course. The prospects of such a career are broad and huge, which is attracting thousands of students to appear in the entrance exams after passing the 10+2 exams. But, simply thinking of scoring highly in the AFMC 2012 is not sufficient because people need to keep in mind a few factors, of which the following 3 have a bearing in the outcome of the results.

Eligibility criteria – For appearing in the entrance exams, the students need to have cleared their 10+2 exams from any recognised board with 60% marks. This is very essential for the examinees and therefore, they should have a pass with the said percentage of marks. When the students are about to fill in their applications, they need to state whether they will be passing the exam during the time of admissions. Apart from the educational qualifications, the students should be unmarried and need to be above 17 years of age and below 22 years of age at the time of admission.

Exam pattern – The basic subjects in which the entrance test questions will appear from are biology, physics and chemistry along with intelligence, logic and reasoning and English language and comprehension. The mark distribution in each of these subjects can be known by looking at the previous year’s question paper or going through the prospectus. The date of the exams should be known exactly from the publication of the advertisement for which the students need to keep a watch on the leading newspapers or in the internet. The AFMC 2012 will be probably held in the month of May-June 2012.

Preparations – Since the entrance exam of AFMC 2012 will be tough, students should prepare themselves accordingly to be able to give their best during the exam. There are only a limited number of seats of 130, which further intensifies the competition and for which the students need to do an intensive study of the subjects in the syllabus and thereby ensure that they score good ranks in the exam.

Many aspects are required to be considered when people plan to appear in the AFMC 2012, along with the basic necessities as mentioned in the above 3 features. The future prospects and the dream career of a doctor in the armed forces are alluring enough but students also need to give their best for a successful career.
