You must be able to differentiate between the optimistic and pessimistic approach of the writer, and make notes of any new detail that you think can become a very essential part of your writing.

Is the context covering singular or plural issues?

In which particular direction is the article leading to?

What is notional approach of the research?

What kind of terminologies has been used in the contextual writing?

Is the argument being supported by relevant and reliable facts and evidences?

How did the writer reach to the conclusion after the argument, and is it relating to the discussion?

Which methods of investigation are employed in the context?

Some articles can be exemplary. You can follow their style of writing and representing the ideas, which carries a great deal of importance in research writing.
