APA style governs the way; a social sciences research paper should be written and submitted to the course supervisor with abstract being one of the most crucial parts included in an APA style research paper. Abstract can be categorized as the summary of your research that you would have carried out for the paper. An abstract include objectives, methodologies, results and conclusions regarding the subject of your study. Abstract should be compendious so that reader can determine what the research was all about just by reading your research paper abstract.

Here is a sample research paper abstract format along with some crucial specifications about an abstract in an APA style which you should know about:

Research Paper Abstract Format in an APA Style: Abstract is written on second page of a research paper after the title page. You should centralize the word “Abstract” on first line of a paper and the next line will follow your abstract. Abstract should be presented as a plain text with double-spacing and without indents in it. An abstract should not contain any information irrelevant to the research work.

In an abstract, every word counts and you should write every number as a digit unless it is used in the beginning of any sentence. Abbreviation can be used wherever possible but you should define it, at first. Sentences in an abstract should be written in active voice and no personal pronouns should be used with sentences. You can use past tense for describing tests or variables & present tense should be used to describe findings, conclusions and applications.

Specifications about the Abstract in an APA Style

1.Abstract in an APA style shouldn’t take more than 120 words since abstracts longer than 120 words are shortened by databases with limited capabilities for search.

2.APA format for research paper abstract includes information about the purpose, methodologies and results of your research along with conclusion.

3.Whether you write an abstract in APA or any other style; you should present it in such a manner that it clarifies the reader all about the subject of your research.
