7 Steps to Write Research Papers in an Effective and Efficient Manner

Research paper writing may seem to be a difficult task for students. However, if students follow the task of research paper writing in an organized manner; then, they can write research papers in effect. Here are the steps which will guide students on how to write research papers:

Step No 1 Topic Selection

At first, student will be required to select a topic for the paper. Students should select a topic of his/her interest in order to accomplish the writing assignment efficiently.

Step No 2 Find Sources

You can look for writing sources by using the card catalog or computer database in library to find a book relevant to the topic of your study. You should also go through various publications related to topic of your study including magazines, journals and newspaper to get the required information.

Step No 3 Taking Notes

Thoroughly going through resources will aid you in coming up with the thesis for your paper. Creating the thesis will automatically begin to generate sub topics for the paper. You should start taking notes for your research paper on index cards with different colors respectively.

Step No 4 Creating the Outline

You should create an outline for the paper by taking into consideration your sorted index cards and utilize those cards in succession to prove the arguments formulated through your thesis statement in a logical manner.

Step No 5 Writing the First Draft

You should start writing the paper by following your research paper outline and discuss the sub topics in a logical manner. You may be required to conduct an additional research if you see any shortcomings in your paper.

Step No 6 Revise and Rewrite

On the first try, there may not be a flow of information; therefore, you should read the paper thoroughly to revise the information that you would have gathered for your paper. You should omit useless information from the paper and rewrite your paper after editing it.

Step No 7 Proofread

In the end, you should proofread your paper for grammatical errors or sentence structure and submit it to your supervisor.
