Things to Do in Galway City Centre

Galway city is loaded with things to see and do. This is a cosmopolitan city very much in touch with its roots as well as being a modern metropolis with all the attractions you would expect of a regional capital. The head arch was built as an extension to the city walls and are on the bank of the river Corrib.

Festivals such as the Galway Arts Festival and the Galway Music Festival run throughout the year and the performance arts are also well represented in Galway. The Town Hall runs a year-long programme of musicals, operas, concerts, live theatre, films and comedy at numerous venues.

There are eight Blue Flag beaches in the area, and for children the Galway Nimos Pier hosts indoor skating over winter. There are several leisure and activity parks with indoor and outdoor playgrounds and picnic areas.
