Palencia is a beautiful city that is located in the province of Tierra de Campos in northwestern Spain. It is situated in the middle of two hills and has a very picturesque view. The city has a rich history as it was once occupied by the Moors, Romans and Celts. There are lots of interesting places to see in Palencia if you spend your holiday there.

The city wall is one of the things that you should see when you visit Palencia. This magnificent wall is 10 meters high. According to the city historians, the wall was built in 1778. The purpose of its construction was to provide protection for the city against attacks from their enemies. Majority of the wall is still intact and well preserved until this day.

The Roman bridge of Palencia is another beautiful structure in the city. The ancient bridge crosses the Carrion River. It was built to replace the bridge that was originally built there. The Romans destroyed the original bridge that was built during the medieval times and then built a new bridge to cross the Carrion River. The bridge has three magnificent arches. It also serves as a bridge to cross the modern to the ancient settlements in the city. The modern part of the city is located on the right side of the bridge while the ancient one is on its left side.

The cathedral in Palencia is a famous tourist attraction. Its construction first began in 1321 but it took a long time to finish. The construction of the cathedral was finally finished in 1504. The design of the cathedral is based on the traditional Gothic style. As you enter the cathedral, your eyes will be drawn to the magnificent image of San Antolin. There is also a museum inside the cathedral that houses a wide collection of religious exhibits. The museum also displays art pieces and artifacts. You can view the works of famous artists such as Retablo, Juan de Flandes and many other great artists. While exploring the cathedral, you can also visit the archeological museum where you can view exquisite metal and ceramic pieces.

The san Miguel Church was constructed during the 13th century. The design of the church is Gothic in style. You will be awed by the magnificent design and architecture of the church. While there you can also visit the San Zoilo Monastery located inside the church grounds. The monastery is housed inside a building that was constructed during the 18th century.
