Most trips to Peru begin in Lima by default because it is where the country’s main international airport is located. Complement this with a pisco sour, Peru’s national cocktail made from grape brandy and mixed with egg whites. Or perhaps you’d rather wait for an after dinner drink along the coast. The up-scale shopping district of Larcomar in Miraflores overs lovey views in addition to several good restaurants and shopping options.

Another main feature of Lima tours is a visit of the city’s historic center. Lima’s center square features colonial buildings, including the Presidential Palace where you can see the changing of the guard every day at noon. Casa Aliaga is the perfect addition to a luxury tour, because it takes you through a luxurious private home, the oldest home in the Americas that has been owned and inhabited by a single family.

Peru is a country full of rich history, and there are numerous museums that wonderfully display and share the country’s past. The Larco Museum is one of the nicest in this capital city, with clear and clean displays that outline Peru’s numerous ancient cultures and how they related to or influenced modern day Peru.

Although Lima is a bustling capital city, there are plenty of quiet places perfect for a stroll. The seaside walkway called the Maleon takes you through numerous parks and past small cafes. In the San Isidro district there is also an Olive Grove park with a small pond which is one of the most beautiful places in the entire city.
