If you want to see some the best monuments of India then you must visit Agra. Agra is an ancient and historical town located in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on the banks of the Yamuna River. It is renowned for historical places and magnificent monuments. There are many interesting tourist places & sites in and around this historical town which make it a much sought after tourist destination in the country.

The main reason to visit Agra is Taj Mahal. The magnificent Taj Mahal was constructed by the mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the loving remembrance of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Hence, the mausoleum of Taj is also called the Symbol of Love & Romance. You can see the tombs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal inside the Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal is one of the most visited and beautiful buildings in the world. It is star attraction of Agra and India tourism. It is visited by a large number of domestic and international tourists each year through out the year. Constructed in graceful white marble the Taj Mahal changes its hues at different times. It looks charming pink in the morning, graceful milky white during the day and bright golden in the moon light. The architectural beauty of Taj Mahal is matchless and never fails to lure visitors coming from all over the world. It is also one of the Seven Wonders of the World and finest example of Muslim and Indian heritage. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In a nutshell, Taj Mahal is the best monument to visit in India.

Agra Fort is another reason to visit Agra in India. It is one another most visited monument in the city. It also attracts tourists through out the world and never fails to lure them. This magnificent fort complex was constructed by mughal emperor Akbar. There are many beautiful palaces and structures inside the fort complex which attracts the tourists. Most visited tourist attractions inside the complex include Diwan-i-Am (the Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (the Hall of Private Audience) Jahangiri Mahal, Khas Mahal (White Marble Palace), Mina Masjid, Moti Masjid, Nagina Masjid, Golden Pavilions, Musamman Burj, Drum House, Shahi Burj, Shah Jahani Mahal, Shish Mahal, Anguri Bagh, etc. Agra Fort is also the site where Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb at the end of his life.

Itmad-Ud-Daullah Tomb is a popular attraction which appeals tourists to tour to Agra . It is a magnificent tomb monument. It was constructed by mughal empress Noor Jahan in the memory of her father. The interiors of this magnificent tomb monument are believed to be more beautiful than of the Taj. Hence, it is also called the Baby Taj or Little Taj Mahal.
