Majestic 7 wonders of world
The new seven wonders foundation was started in the year 2001 by Swiss cooperation to select the new Seven Wonders of the World. A popularity poll was conducted by Candian-swiss Bernard Weber. The new & wonders foundation claimed more the 100 million votes were cast through the internet or by telephone. Nothing prevented multiple votes so the poll was considered unscientific. The winners were announced on July 7th 2007 in Lisbon.
Chichen Itza: this is the famous Mayan pyramid located 75 miles east of Merida the capital state of Yucatan, Mexico. This beautiful archeological site is rated among the most important of Maya culture and covers an area approximately six square miles. The main attraction of this new 7 wonder is its central pyramid, a square based, stepped pyramid that is about 75 feet tall.
Christ the Redeemer: This beautiful statue is located at the top Of Corcovado Mountain. The why it was built was to signify Christ loves all. This is the tallest statue of the world.
Great Wall of China: this wall was built to protect the northern borders of the country. The steps that form the wall of China are very steep and tall in some areas; the wall was also included in the list seven medieval wonders of the World.
Machu Picchu: This located on remote secondary road in nearly impassable terrain high above the Urubamba River. It is the most Renowned citadel of Incas. The citadel is divided into two sectors: the agricultural and the urban.
Petra: this is about 3- 5 hours to the south of modern Amman, approximately 2 hours to the north of Aqaba on the edges of mountain desert of Wadi Araba. Petra has more than 800 monuments which comprises of buildings, tombs, baths, funeral, corridor, temples, arched income and adjacent street which are carved in kaleidoscopic sand stone.
Roman Colosseum: this is an elliptical amphitheater located in the heart of the city Rome. The building was constructed by emperors of the Flavian dynasty which was used for gladiator’s contests and public spectacles with capacity of 50,000 spectators.
Taj Mahal: this beautiful mugal monument is standing majestically ob the right bank of river Yamuna. This monument was built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal. The entire architectural complex comprises of 5 major constituent the Darwaza( the main gateway), Bageecha( the garden), masjid(mosque), Naqqar khana( the rest house) and Rauza( the main mausoleum).
