Goa is the beach paradise of India. The beaches here are always alive with activity and with so many tourists visiting from all over the world. Every Goa beach is unique and every beach has a story attached to it. The rich past, the stories of the land, the rich culture and haunted spirits add to the charm and beauty of the Goa beaches. Here are the stories behind some of the most popular beaches in Goa.

One of the most popular Goa beaches is the Dona Paula beach. It is unique because at this beach, you can see the confluence of two major Goan rivers and the Arabian Sea. This beautiful geographic wonder has contributed to the beauty of Dona Paula beach. However, the specialty of Dona Paula is the number of stories attached to the beach. The most popular folklore is about Dona, a viceroy’s daughter who visited Goa. Cupid struck and she fell in love with Gasper Dias who was a lowly fisherman. However, the viceroy did not accept the match. Depressed, she jumped off the cliff at the beach and died. According to the lore, the haunted spirit of Dona still roams the beach during moonlit nights. Locals even talk about seeing the silhouette of a woman wearing a necklace made out of pearls rising from the waves of the sea and floating on the beach. Nobody knows how true the story is. Yet, thousands of tourists visit this Goa beach to see the stone from where Dona fell to her death.

Another one of the very popular Goa beaches is the Majorda beach. The most famous thing about this Goa beach is the bread which you get here. It is truly one of the most delicious breads you will ever eat. There is an interesting folklore hidden behind the bread here. According to the legend, Jesuits discovered a very delicious variety of Goa toddy on Majorda beach. They used the toddy to make the bread, as a result of which, the bread had a very interesting and delicious taste. The bread attracted people from far and wide. Nobody mixes toddy to make bread in Majorda beach any longer. However, the taste of those breads is supposed to linger on the beach and make the present ones very delicious.

Besides Goa, there are a lot of other places with very interesting histories. Bangkok is one such place. The capital of Thailand, Bangkok is a land of many colors. If you visit some of the museums in the city, you can see so many artifacts that narrate of story about its rich past.
