One of the very best ways of enjoying a holiday in Spain is by learning a few things about the traditions and cultures. By taking part in the different festivals held during different time of the year, you will manage to identify with this beautiful country. The festivals are characterized by bull running, costumes, carnival dancers, fireworks and of course great drinking and eating.

San Fermin: this is one of the best festivals that you can witness in Spain. It is a festival that takes more than a day and takes place in Pamplona every July. The Running of Bulls festivals normally start from the 6th to 14th of July and involve an intense running of bulls in the streets. People normally run before the bulls in frenzy something that is quite interesting even with all the risks involved. This wild festival attracts thousands of tourists from all corners of the world.

Las Fallas: this festival takes place in Valencia in March and is held from the 15th to the 19th. It is mainly a fireworks display festival that is also jam packed, smoke filled and raucous in every way. It is one of the best festivals that you can take part in while holidaying in Valencia and Spain in general.

La Tomatina: this is a tomato fight festival also held in Valencia. The annual event takes place in August during the last Wednesday and remains to be quite an attraction for the locals and visitors coming from all over the world. People normally line up in the streets and then engage in tomato battles. It is an interesting and fun affair held in Bunol town just near Valencia.

Semana Santa: this festival is help in three different cities in Spain including Andalucia, Malaga and Seville. It is an annual event which takes place during the week heading to Easter Sunday hence the reference to as Holy Week. It among Andalucía’s most significant festivals and therefore attracts lots of visitors as well as local. These religious celebrations are characterized by floats with Jesus El Gran Poder, La Macarena and Triana revered images.

Carnival Tenerife: these festivals takes place in Tenerife within the Canary Islands and are some of the best. They take place in February and go for a whole 27 days where the islanders gather for the festivities. The carnival is mainly music and dance affair and is therefore one of the most popular especially in Santa Cruz.
