Ask interview questions
Asking questions during the interview is the interviewer’s job only. That’s a myth; you get to answer all questions you like during interview. However, wait till the end and beware that you will receive more questions. You have the right to decide if the company you are applying for is good enough or not, getting a graduate career requires you to be careful of where you want to start.
Of course, you need to ask questions that are related to the company. Most interviewers will ask you if there is any question for them and you should prepare some question. Asking questions show your interest in working for the company and that you have good knowledge about the company profiles but you need to know more.
You can ask about the nature of your potential graduate job, how is the workday, responsibilities of the perfect candidate, opportunities for promotion and how long do you need to stay in the company before receiving promotion, and what are the measures used to assess employees performance. These questions might differ between different industries and you can change them with more relevant ones.
You can also ask the human resources manager about training opportunities provided to their employees, what incentives to encourage more productivity, and what is their position from employers who want to continue learning.
Before leaving the interview you should ask about any questions or clarification the interviewers might still need from you. Ask about the next step of the interview process and when it is expected to hear from them. You can also ask about your position among other candidates and if they have specific recommendation for you to take advantage from.
You need to be very attentive during the whole interview and particularly when you ask questions. Most interviewees like to talk more to impress their interviewers with their knowledge and skills that they forget to listen to questions attentively. If you don’t understand one of the interview questions or answers, don’t rush for an answer that can be totally not related to the question. Instead, ask the interviewer to repeat what he or she said or to rephrase it, without listening and comprehending well you won’t be able to provide a proper answer.
Prepare all questions that you have in mind about the company profiles and requirements for the company. Don’t forget to thank your interviewers for listening to your answers and answering your questions.
