Security Grilles: Attractive and Effective Protection
Most people worry about security in their houses to some extent. Of course, protective measures such as comprehensive insurance policies and security alarms are a big help in reducing risk of damage to or theft of your belongings.
These measures are effective in their own ways, but the one thing they don’t offer is a physical barrier to would-be intruders. Security grilles, gates and barriers provide an indisputable visual deterrent to burglars and vandals in a way that other security measures do not.
So why install a security grille? First off, it’s very difficult to break through a rigid set of professionally installed grilles. Most are constructed from steel or wrought iron, which is pretty tough to cut through and certainly beyond the break-in capabilities of your average wannabe swag-ster.
The second big plus is that grilles are see-through. If you have one on your front door, this means you’ll be able to see who’s on the other side of the barrier before deciding to let them in. For shops, on the other hand, a see-through grille means you can maintain a window display advertising your business without jeopardising security.
Security grilless also offer protection against vandalism, which is good to know if you live somewhere with a busy nightlife, which sees the occasional outbreak of drunken violence, or even just clumsiness! They’re also customisable to your property, so you can find a style and colour that blends with your surroundings.
But grilles aren’t just for security – they can also look good! Decorative grilles which contribute to the aesthetic of the home as well as meeting a practical need are in big demand. They are often used as radiator or open fire guards, floor grilles and wire panelling, and can generally be treated to look new or weatherworn, depending on their owner’s preference.
Bronze grilles, for example, work particularly well in bespoke or period furniture pieces as bronze can be treated to look quite careworn. This makes it suitable for wiring in the panels of chairs or decorative screens.
Whatever you need them for - security, decoration or to fulfil a functional need, there are thousands of providers to help you choose the grille for you.
