The performance of a machine depends on its ability to endure vibrations, motion, speed and general wear and tear. To keep a machine in good shape, Parker adhesives and sealants play a very important part. They have several roles to play, and they play these roles rather successfully. After all, even a small dislodged part can be potentially hazardous to the overall operations of a machine.

There are sealants with a low, medium and high viscosity that instantly seal different components. Similarly, the market also offers retainer compounds that are actually liquid resins that can cure even in the absence of air. You could use these to secure Parker O-seals. Such adhesives are best when used in small gaps that might exist in metallic structures. Then again, there are special adhesives that are meant especially for threaded parts. In addition, you could opt for sealants that are made especially for use with flanges, piston seals or with threaded parts.

While the market offers sealants and adhesives for regular use, there is a different band of products meant especially for industrial purposes. You should use these for optimum performance. We shall now take a look at some of the most common applications of Parker adhesives and sealants.

1. To secure different types of threaded parts: There is a special line of anaerobic sealants, and as the name suggests, they cure in the absence of air too. These are best used in conjunction with different types of metallic or threaded parts. The greatest advantage they offer is high resistance to pressure and vibration. If you need to fill gaps by 100%, then this is your best choice, and they are also a great alternative to Teflon tape in threaded fittings.

2. For use with flanges: The best option in this case would be to choose a special range of gasket sealant that is meant especially for use with flanges. These sealants are recommended for use with inflexible flange connections, such as gearboxes, engine casings, air compressors, and axle covers etc. The most interesting aspect of these sealants is that they cure in the absence of air, but the excess compound that remains in contact with air will retain its liquid state. You can also use them with piston seals.

3. For assembly operations: The market today offers a special variety of anaerobic adhesives that show great results when used with parts that need impeccable adhesion. When used with Parker O-rings, these sealants can prevent the occurrence of leakages and loosening that are sometimes caused by vibration.

Besides these applications that we have discussed in this article, Parker adhesives and sealants are also highly suitable for use with various types of leathers, rubbers, and plastics.
